About the Opportunity:
Covering 3,000 Ha, Hudayriat Island Masterplan comprises of a complete sustainable community with a diverse range of facilities. This will include allocating several plots for UAE Nationals, who will benefit from the Emirati Housing Programme. At the heart of the mixed-use development, an accessible waterfront spanning an impressive 30km. It will take up to 10 minutes to walk from the waterfront to any point on the island. Other key features of the project include recreational activities, a public shoreline, green mobility network and rich natural environment MODON have awarded Jacobs the PMC for Hudayriat Island, with scope of works covering grading, ground improvement, bulk utilities connections and infrastructure. In total there will be 9 construction packages, with around 52Mm³ of imported landfill. Jacobs have an opportunity for an experienced Design Manager with PMC experience. Responsibilities include:

• Arrange, attend, and chair the design team meetings whenever reasonably necessary and monitor the progress of actions
• Oversee and manage the completion of the design for the various parts of the projects
• Ensure that the Other Consultants (including the Lead Design Consultant) produce the required deliverables required under their appointments, including but not limited to drawings, specifications, reports, schedules, Bills of Quantities, models, renditions, to enable the Contractors to procure and construct the works in accordance with the requirements
• Review the Lead Design Consultant and Other Consultants’ design programs to ensure that they coordinate with the contractor’s construction programs. Thereafter, the Design Manager shall monitor the Lead Design Consultant and Other Consultants for adherence to those programs
• Identify any remaining design issues that need to be produced and /or resolved to meet the requirements of the Contractors’ procurement program/schedule and coordinate with the Other Consultants to ensure that releases of design deliverables coordinate with the Contractors’ program/schedule for procurement of those works packages
  

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Have proven experience working within a consultative environment and working on major construction development projects
• Have strong understanding of all primary infrastructure disciplines such as roads, power, wet utilities and dry utilities and design principles
• Have knowledge of urban planning concepts, master planning and civil engineering
• Be experienced in technical design reviews
• Understand Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the coordination process
• Be an excellent communicator with design professionals and with local authorities
• Have previous experience managing infrastructure design teams and projects
• Have previous experience in overseeing the design during the construction phase.
• Ideally have discipline specific professional registration (PMP, PMI, ICE, RICS)
• Have a degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering is preferred
• Have previous experience working on projects in the UAE
• Be able to reside in Abu Dhabi. Please note that commuting from other Emirates is not something that would be considered
