Faithful+Gould are currently looking for a Design Manager - Masterplaning in Abu Dhabi with demonstrated experience on large scale projects.

Job Purpose:

The Design Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Master Planning will be responsible for the development of master plans for a variety of projects including, but not limited to residential and mixed use projects. He/ she will play a role in coordinating with consultants and stakeholders (internal and external) for delivering the specific project requirements.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Develop of RFPs, briefs, and design strategies for master planning projects.
  • Work closely with consultants and stakeholders in developing master plans.
  • Development of land use datasets with design understanding of various land use products, all type of traffic network and circulation, types of open spaces and current real estate development trends and products updates.
  • Understanding land use and products with non-revenue versus revenue generation potential.
  • Internal team liaison to ensure coordination between all disciplines relevant to master
planning (feasibility, architecture, infrastructure, and delivery).
  • Coordinate in house design team as instructed by the design department leadership, to deliver internal master plan feasibility projects in line with management expectations.
  • Review master plan deliverables during all project stages, and manage DMT (Abu Dhabi
Department of Municipality and Transportation) planning requirements and relationships
(Vision - PCMP - Framework \xe2\x80\x93 CMP \xe2\x80\x93 DMP).
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments as required; procurement, commercial
feasibility, marketing & sales and undertake internal test fit design and planning in coordination with other stakeholders.
  • Report back to the leadership and relevant departments on master planning progress.
  • Define the required criteria to control and manage the projects.
  • Suggest alternative planning options for review with management for approval.
  • Contribute to projects\xe2\x80\x99 budget and risk assessment.
  • Monitor changes and set plans to control such changes.
  • Monitor the performance of the design consultant and other consultants in respect of the
deliverables associated with the agreed design program.
  • Provide immediate advice to management if the progress may affect the program overall
completion date or milestone objectives together with recommended remedial action.
  • Assist design team to identify and resolve problems, develop strategies to identify major issues
that may arise with site delivery team and propose collaborative solutions for such issues.
  • Process review of design consultants\xe2\x80\x99 invoices accurately against contract scopes of work.
  • Coordinate with consultants to:
o Review the analysis of land use projects to determine the split between various sectors
such as residential commercial industrial and community use and recommend changes
o Review master plan deliverables during all master plan stages and be familiar with DMT
(Abu Dhabi Department of Municipality and Transportation) planning requirements
(Vision/PCMP/Framework/CMP/DMP Review drawing submittals to ensure that they
are in line with project brief specification
o Ensure compliance with DMT and relevant stakeholders\xe2\x80\x99 requirements
o Provide regular design guidance
  • Present developed master plans to Senior Management & Abu Dhabi leadership as
necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in Master Planning, Uran Planning, Urban Desigm Architecture, or relevant design field
  • Masters in Urban Design/ Urban Planning
  • 8-10+ years of experience with master planning and/or real estate master planning across
asset classes in consultancy, and/or medium and large developers - preferably in the UAE or
GCC
  • Proven experience in master plan / urban design process for developments
  • Experienced in working with multi-disciplinary teams that include members from Business
Planning, Master Planning Design, Project Management, Procurement and Commercial
functions.
  • Extensive knowledge of master planning design from visioning, idea generation to concept and detailed master planning stages
  • Understanding land use and products with non-revenue versus revenue generation potential.
  • Proficiency in Urban Design and Master Planning best practices and latest trends
  • Excellent design management skills
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving, communication and project management skills
  • Proficient in master plan and urban design vision and sketching (hand sketch, digital sketch
and CAD)
  • Proficient in master plan and urban design diagram creation (Adobe Indesign, Adobe
Illustrator)
  • Proficient in data set creation and review (Xcel with GIS an advantage)
  • Experienced in Report creation and writing (Adobe Indesign, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Arabic language proficiency is a plus
