This is a secondment role to one of our current projects. The Design Manager will manage the design aspects of masterplanning, public realm, and on-plot commercial and residential buildings projects. The role will involve coordinating with different stakeholders, including the Owner, Developer, architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure the design is executed as per the project's strategic objectives, vision, timeline, and budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the design process from the conceptual phase through construction and project completion for all consultants appointed directly by MIZA.

Prepare clear design briefs on behalf of the Owner, working closely with Miza team and end users.

Develop a database of architects, consultant, engineers and prequalify as needed, focusing on mid-career and locally based talent.

Act as MIZA point of contact for design-related matters, and coordinate with appointed architects, engineers, and other design professionals to ensure that design intent is maintained throughout the project.

Make informed recommendations on material selection, considering factors such as sustainability, cost, aesthetics, and durability.

Work closely with the MIZA team to ensure that the design aligns with their vision and meets their needs and expectations.

Participate in project meetings and present design concepts and progress to MIZA.

Be aware of what constitutes design changes and handle any design-related issues that arise during the project.

Ensure design compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and MIZA guidelines.

Review architectural and engineering drawings submitted by design consultants. Prepare, and consolidate comments from all MIZA team and end users.

Provide a focus on sustainability across the design cycle and ensure sustainability principles are embedded in the design.

Coordinate with the procurement and construction teams to ensure the design aspects are integrated into the project's overall timeline and budget.
