Faithful+Gould are currently looking for a Design Manager in Abu Dhabi with demonstrated experience on large scale projects.

Job Purpose:

The Design Manager is responsible for assessing and evaluating consultant design work, managing the design and development process, ensuring quality and timeliness of design production, overseeing internal and external teams, and controlling the development of designs from concept to delivery. They are also responsible for scheduling, monitoring, and organizing production design to ensure the required quality and timeliness. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Design Manager plays a crucial role in the successful execution of design projects.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Design Manager oversees the planning, design, and implementation of effective design strategies. They ensure alignment with brand standards and manage the entire design process, collaborating with stakeholders. The Design Manager ensures quality, monitors budgets, reviews proposals, and oversees design implementation.

Roles and responsibilities include:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters during development and delivery.
  • Manage and coordinate the overall design and development process in collaboration with the wider projects and delivery team.
  • Assessing and evaluating consultant design work, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and best practice standards.
  • Managing and coordinating the overall design and development process in coordination with Client\'s wider projects and delivery team.
  • Monitoring, organizing, and ensuring the required quality and timeliness of the design production and stakeholders\' work on projects of all scales.
  • Overseeing both internal and external teams and controlling the development of the design from concept through to delivery.
  • Scheduling, monitoring, organizing, and ensuring the required quality and timeliness of the production design and stakeholders\' work on projects of all scales.
  • Review and evaluate design consultant work, monitor, organize, and ensure the quality and timely production of design deliverables for projects of all scales.
  • Lead and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the design and development process.
  • Coordinate with project design and delivery teams to ensure brand consistency across the customer journey.
  • Ensure all designs maintain a high level of quality and keep pace with project programs and timescales.
  • Assess and evaluate consultant design work to ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and best practice standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate design changes and revisions for design and construction drawings.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to align designs with approved direction and design intent.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports, and presentations related to design and development projects.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of designers and engineers throughout all design stages.
  • Prepare and review design briefs and scopes of work for design consultant procurement.
  • Monitor and mitigate development costs and risks throughout the design and delivery process.
  • Communicate design strategy and direction to ensure understanding of priorities and impact on the overall delivery process.
  • Stay up to date with the latest designs, solutions, and industry trends through research and exploration.
  • Oversee site inspections to check project progress and ensure compliance with regulations and specifications.
  • Review development plans, permit application documents, environmental impact statements, and relevant documentation.
  • Manage and monitor the stage gate submittal process and deliverables, ensuring adherence to schedules.
  • Compile comprehensive reporting on the status of design and implementation for all projects.
  • Coordinate with the delivery team during the construction phase.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A masters or bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in architecture, interior design, or related/ equivalent field.
  • 7-10 years of experience working in architecture and/ or real estate development with experience working among which at least three years in a managerial position, preferably in real estate development.
  • Proven track record of previous GCC or UAE experience is essential

  • Exceptional design aesthetic sensibility, demonstrated across a wide range of projects including commercial, leisure, hospitality, and residential, showcasing expertise in various design disciplines.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects, displaying exemplary project management skills such as organization, time management, resourcefulness, flexibility, and communication.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, both as a team player and as an independent contributor, with a demonstrated ability to balance teamwork and independent project assignments.
  • Strong financial acumen and demonstrated attention to best value for investment within agreed budgets, ensuring cost-effective design solutions without compromising quality.
  • Extensive experience working with diverse and cross-functional teams and design disciplines, fostering effective collaboration and integration of various stakeholders.
  • Results-driven mindset, consistently achieving project goals and driving success in design delivery.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software and tools, such as MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling (SketchUp or Revit), with the ability to effectively utilize technology to enhance design processes
  • Previous experience in design consultancy, demonstrating an understanding of client needs, project dynamics, and design industry best practices.
  • Operational and project delivery experience on major schemes, including site experience, providing a comprehensive understanding of the practical aspects of design implementation.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current design trends, emerging technologies, and building materials, enabling the incorporation of innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and initiative, with the ability to identify opportunities, drive business growth, and make strategic design decisions.
  • A proven leader in project design and negotiation, possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage client relationships and negotiate design requirements.
