Job Description

The Fire Protection Design and Estimation Engineer is responsible for designing and estimating fire protection systems for Oil and Gas projects, ensuring full compliance with local and international codes and standards.

Role

Develop detailed fire protection system designs, including fire water demand analysis and hydraulic calculations, in accordance with project specifications and industry standards (e.g., NFPA). Conduct hydraulic calculations to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of fire safety systems. Perform value engineering to deliver cost-effective and performance-driven fire protection solutions. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and estimate project costs, including materials, labour, and equipment. Generate comprehensive techno-commercial proposals tailored to client requirements. Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and applicable fire safety regulations to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and cost parameters. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery. Demonstrate strong understanding of various fire protection systems such as deluge systems, water spray systems, sprinklers, foam systems, fire pumps, fire water tanks, and gas extinguishing systems. Perform quantity take-offs from architectural drawings and specifications to produce accurate cost estimates. Identify and propose value engineering alternatives to optimize system performance and reduce overall project costs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

5-8 years of proven experience in fire protection system design and estimation, particularly for Oil and Gas terminal projects. In-depth knowledge of fire safety standards and regulations, including UAE Civil Defence requirements and international codes such as NFPA and FM Global. Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) and hydraulic calculation tools (e.g., PipeNet). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Certification in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline is preferred. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects efficiently. Experience with fire protection systems in specialized sectors such as Oil & Gas and industrial facilities. Immediate availability is preferred.
