Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develop structural steel design drawings using AutoCAD, Tekla, STAAD. Pro, etc. Prepare shop drawings, GA drawings, and erection drawings Design bolted and welded connections as per project loads and standards Ensure compliance with codes (AISC, BS, Eurocode, UBC, etc.) Interpret and review IFC drawings, BOQs, and specifications Coordinate with fabrication and erection teams for constructability reviews Prepare material take-offs (MTO) and steel quantity calculations Estimate fabrication man-hours, welding length, painting, and erection scope Prepare cost estimations for materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment Obtain quotations from vendors and suppliers for pricing support Create technical and commercial proposals for tenders and RFQs Analyze variations and prepare cost impact assessments Provide technical clarifications during tendering and execution stages Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and closeout documentation Support QA/QC and planning departments with design-related inputs

Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of structural steel design and detailing Proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, STAAD. Pro, or similar tools Knowledge of steel grades, fabrication, and erection practices Excellent in MS Excel and cost estimation spreadsheets Ability to multitask and manage timelines effectively Good communication and technical report-writing skills

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering 5-7 years of relevant experience in steel design and estimation GCC/UAE experience is preferred
