Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway/Road Design Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of various road and highway projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. This role requires a strong understanding of highway engineering principles, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of highways, roads, and associated infrastructure.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports for road projects.
• Utilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MXROAD, or similar for horizontal and vertical alignment design, earthwork calculations, drainage design, and pavement design.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant Abu Dhabi/UAE regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., DOT, DMRM).
• Conduct site visits and surveys as required to gather data and assess existing conditions.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and stakeholders to integrate road designs with overall project requirements.
• Perform traffic analysis and prepare traffic impact studies.
• Review and approve designs prepared by junior engineers or external consultants.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
• Identify potential design issues and propose effective solutions.
• Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in highway engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from a recognized University.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in Highway Design with thorough knowledge of Highway / Road Design Software.
• Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, etc. and any project specific engineering and construction relevant software
• Good written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project team.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent knowledge in utilizing Civil 3D is required.
