Job Description

Development and optimisation of design deliverables in accordance with project requirements, authority requirements, applicable standards, and technical specifications, including: a. Design drawings (in coordination with the draughting team) b. Design calculations c. Material selection and sizing d. Design reports and presentations e. Infrastructure network simulations f. Hazardous area classifications Justification of design decisions to stakeholders (contractors, consultants, clients, authorities, etc.) with supporting arguments based on codes, standards, and best engineering practices. Proactive identification of design concerns at an early stage and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues in coordination with stakeholders. Participation in technical meetings with main contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders, as required. Identification of value engineering opportunities in medium and large-scale projects. Raise technical queries with relevant stakeholders to obtain missing information and clarify work scope. Upholding company standards for deliverable quality, accuracy, and clarity. Quality control via 1st stage review of design drawings produced by draughtsmen to verify technical accuracy and conformity with requirements. Openness to the development of new design concepts in non-standard situations. Providing technical direction to draughtsmen for Category B and C projects, with support from the Engineering Manager where necessary. Support in pre-award technical submittals for high-value tenders. Providing inputs in the development of construction documents to ensure that technical requirements are fully captured. Acting as project representative for design consultancy projects in front of the client and participating in online and in-person meetings with high levels of professionalism and technical aptitude. Contributing to ongoing company initiatives such as: a. Standardization of construction documents templates (method statements, ITPs, etc.) b. Capturing and applying lessons learned from executed projects and systems under operation c. Special projects when applicable

Qualifications:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, etc.) from a reputable university and with strong academic record. 0 to 5 years of experience, preferably in the gas distribution industry. However, fresh graduates may apply. Strongly preferred: Knowledge of local and international standards related to the gas distribution industry, including ADNOC City Gas standards, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, NFPA 58, NFPA 54, and IGEM standards (UP/2, TD/3, TD/13, etc). Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is a plus. Working knowledge of Synergi Gas (or similar software) is a plus.
