The Demi Chef - Pastry is responsible for assisting the Pastry Chef in the preparation and presentation of a wide variety of desserts, baked goods, and pastries. This role involves preparing high-quality pastry dishes, following the restaurant's recipes and standards, and contributing to the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Pastry Preparation:
Assist in the preparation, production, and presentation of all pastry items, desserts, and baked goods.
Follow the instructions and recipes provided by the Pastry Chef or Executive Chef.
Ensure that all pastry products are prepared in a timely manner and presented to the highest quality standards.
Baking and Cooking:
Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, and other ingredients for a variety of pastry items including cakes, tarts, bread, croissants, and specialty desserts.
Handle baking equipment and ovens to bake and decorate desserts to perfection.
Ensure correct portion sizes and consistency in pastry items.
Kitchen Operations:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in the pastry kitchen.
Ensure all food is stored and prepared under strict hygiene and safety standards.
Manage mise en place and be prepared for service hours.
Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
Quality Control:
Monitor and maintain the freshness and presentation of all pastry items.
Ensure all food served complies with the restaurant's or hotel's quality standards.
Check the quality of ingredients and monitor stock levels to avoid wastage.
Support and Teamwork:
Assist the Pastry Chef in creating new pastry items and experimenting with new flavors and techniques.
Work alongside the pastry team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Provide guidance to junior staff and apprentices when necessary.
Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring correct storage of ingredients.
Health and Safety:
Follow all health and safety regulations, including maintaining personal hygiene, food handling, and sanitation practices.
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and kitchen cleanliness at all times.
Candidates must be available for immediate hiring.
Arabic & Philippines is an advantage in this position.
