Our Fintech client in Abu Dhabi is seeking a skilled and experienced DBA with a strong focus on SQL query optimisation to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of multiple database technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer, maintain and optimise databases across various platforms, ensuring high availability, security and performance.

Collaborate closely with software developers to provide expertise and guidance on SQL query performance tuning, database design and indexing strategies.

Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies to minimise data loss and downtime.

Monitor database performance, proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and ensure optimal system efficiency.

Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely solutions to maintain data integrity.

Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations by implementing and maintaining access controls and encryption.

Stay current with emerging database technologies and trends to recommend and implement improvements.

Manage the deployment of database updates and patches, as well as database version upgrades.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide database support for development, testing and production environments.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a DBA with expertise in SQL query optimisation.

Strong proficiency in database technologies, including MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL, Azure Synapse and Oracle Fusion (with least priority for Oracle Fusion and DB2).

Knowledge of database design, performance tuning and optimisation techniques.

Experience with data backup and recovery procedures.

Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the financial industry.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
