Job Description

Position Summary: You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance, integrity and security of database systems managed by IT. Our Database Administrator (DBA) will be involved in the planning and development of the databases, as well as in troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users and applications, performance fine-tuning, security management, backup management, and maintain and monitor data related jobs and services. You will make sure that data is available to users and applications, and that data is secure from unauthorised access or accidental loss or corruption. You will be responsible for the up-time of all DB Servers and related services. Key responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for maintaining the integrity and performance of all Database Servers and databases
  • Must guarantee that data is stored securely and optimally, ensuring the security of data and control access permissions and privileges
  • Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of databases.
  • Sustain the security and integrity of the DBs to provide users access to accurate data, updating and amending existing databases.
  • Ensure that storage, backup and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
  • Perform DB support processes to ensure stability and performance of production DBs and availability of stored data, communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational teams to ensure database integrity and security.
  • Monitor assigned applications and related systems to reduce downtime and ensure assigned applications are made available, monitor performance, and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of databases to resolve operational issues and restoring services
  • Support in creating complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted.
  • Respond to inquiries from colleagues and other staff for providing technical assistance, advice and support.
  • Ability to handle database maintenance and regular monitoring, scheduled tasks, and backup and recovery whenever required
  • To ensure QA/QC in the work done by resolving operational issues of Database is with minimum downtime.
  • Prepare a variety of materials in both written and electronic formats (e.g., Documentation, flowcharts, etc.) for documenting activities, providing written evidence and/or conveying information.
  • Troubleshooting and Controlling of Jobs using Cron. Performing remote connections and file transfer, creating archives, managing local disk devices and performing system security.
  • DBAs must monitor the database performance and evaluate complex information coming from a variety of sources.
  • Must communicate effectively with managers, developers, and other team members. Communicates effectively to individuals and groups using clear and in appropriate manner.
  • Administer Production, UAT, and Development databases. Make hot and cold backups, installing patches and improving the performance.
  • Report about faulty equipment.
  • Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Report all Incidents (Near Misses and Accidents) that happen in the office to the safety officer, IT department and manager.
  • Comply with HSE policies and procedures of the company.
Educational Requirement:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems, or equivalent
Experience
  • 8+ years experience in Information Technology field
  • Advanced certifications are required to work as a Database Administrator. Certified in ORACLE and Microsoft Database systems is preferred
  • 8+ years of working experience in IT.
  • 5+ years as Database Administrator (ORACLE)
  • 2+ years as Database Administrator (MS SQL and Others)
  • Experience with ORACLE Cloud Infrastructure is an added advantage
Required Technical Skills :
  • Excellent Knowledge and experience in ORACLE, MS SQL Server
  • Proven experience with database performance tuning and capacity planning.
  • Proven Experience with migrating databases between different database versions.
  • Proven ability to design, implement and support database best practices.
  • Proven ability to conduct POC?s and certifications of new database products and features.
  • Effective Planning and Organizing.
  • Install, patch, maintain and monitor all database servers
  • Monitor, and verify backups and perform ad-hoc backups
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery and real-time replications
  • Configured and implemented Backup and Recovery using RMAN.
  • Experience with features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM), Active Data Guard , Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Golden Gate replication
  • Proficient in managing RAC cluster and DataGuard databases.
  • Knowledge and Experience with the UNIX/Linux operating system, Automate the processes like moving files, managing alert log, efficient backup by developing UNIX scripts
  • Experience with various tools, such as SQL*Plus, SQL Developer and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Administration of Oracle & MS SQL Servers and databases
  • Experience in executing DR activities, database upgrades, and patching along with all the regular database maintenance activities.
  • Create/maintain shell scripts to support DB Administration tasks and/or automate them via Shell/SQL.
  • Advanced skills in SQL Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM 12c), Linux shell scripting, and writing database monitoring jobs in PL/SQL.
  • Experience in analyzing the Database Health check reports like AWR, ADDM, OEM Diagnostics Packages and should have experience to interpret the performance metrics quickly.
  • Tune SQL and PL/SQL code using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Tools, Query Analyzer and Explain Plans.
  • Good systems administration skills such as the ability to install and configure new physical and virtual Linux servers.
  • Involved in the creation and modification of different PL/SQL objects like Packages, Stored Procedures and Triggers.
  • Expertise in Logical Volume Manager - LVM configuration & Updating of the OS as when needed
  • Exposure on ORACLE Cloud Infrastructure is an added advantage
  • Experience in ORACLE WebLogic is an added advantage
  • Knowledge in Sybase IQ is an added advantage
