Job Title: Data Governance SpecialistLocation: Abu DhabiJob Type: ContractDepartment: Data Management / Strategy Reports To: Director of Strategy Job Summary:We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Governance Specialist to develop and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards across the organization. This role will ensure data quality, integrity, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements, enabling reliable data-driven decision-making.Key Responsibilities:Data Governance Implementation:Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices.Data Quality Management:Monitor and improve data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.Metadata & Data Lineage:Maintain metadata repositories, track data lineage, and ensure proper documentation of data assets.Policy Enforcement & Compliance:Ensure adherence to data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and internal standards.Stakeholder Collaboration:Partner with data owners, stewards, IT, legal, and business teams to align governance with business needs.Issue Resolution:Identify data issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate remediation efforts.Tool Administration:Support or administer data governance and cataloging tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, etc.Training & Awareness:Promote data literacy and best practices through training and documentation.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.Experience:3+ years in data governance, data management, or related roles.Skills & Tools:Strong understanding of data governance principles (e.g., DAMA DMBOK)Experience with data quality tools and metadata management systemsFamiliarity with privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilitiesPreferred Certifications (Optional):Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)DAMA CertificationInformatica or Collibra certificationCIPP or other data privacy certifications
