Role Purpose:
The Data Analytics Manager is responsible for handling the data analysis and database management for the Merchandising function in the country. The role holder is also responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the performance of the function.
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Database Management
Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases / data systems
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Compile and properly store all the data pertaining to Merchandising department
Ensure consistency and efficiency in data
Extract data in response to incoming data requests
Suggest ways to increase the capacity and enhance the efficiency of the strategic databases
Merchandising Data
Monitor sourcing data to ensure the objectives are achieved, analyse financial impact of price approach in view of overall history and inform relevant parties
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Develop and review vendors competitors pricing and provide it to the sourcing team
Monitor specific merchandising processes, collect appropriate data and prepare the relevant reports
Category Comparison
Monitor and analyse the sections / department profitability for the pricing strategy
Assist strategic planning process with required quantitative and qualitative information
Develop database and metrics to conduct comparative studies of all products in stores and products available in the market
Benchmarking and Reporting
Conduct benchmarking studies based on the needs of the Merchandising department
Post relevant data / information to management information systems
Prepare periodical reports, analyze the efficiency of the planning and propose areas for improvement
System Management
Identify and escalate system failures / problems and seek assistance immediately
Implement the policies and procedures for effectively managing information systems
Human Capital Responsibilities
Assist with the implementation of the performance management process by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and provide constructive feedback and provide inputs to senior management
Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
Provide inputs on training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements
Develop and implement on the job-training for the team
Provide inputs for the development of annual manpower plan
Ensure the implementation of MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures
Financial Responsibilities
Ensure alignment of procedures in accordance with the Delegation of Authority (DOA)
Assist in monitoring allocated budget to ensure compliance and highlight possible issues
Provide inputs on the preparation of budget when necessary
Provide inputs on cost reduction measures.
Definition of Success
Timeliness and accuracy of reports
Benchmarking reports that provide useful insights
Identification of improvements for the merchandising function
Improvements made to the database
Prioritization of business and information needs
Personal Characteristics and Required Background:
Minimum Qualifications/education
Bachelor’s Degree in field related to Database Management or Data Analytics
Minimum experience
5+ years of experience in a similar role
Skills
Strong business communication and presentation skills
Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
Experience in collecting and analyzing data
