Job Summary

The responsibility of a Data Analyst is to analyze, synthesize data into meaningful insights and use data to create predictive models using machine learning algorithms and advanced statistical analysis. The findings have to be communicated effectively to aid in critical decisions. A Data Analyst must work closely with the stakeholders to identify issues and propose data-driven solutions that help to achieve the objectives of the university.
Job-Specific Responsibilities
Work with the stakeholders to identify opportunities and needs to deliver and propose solutions
for effective decision making


Perform data mining and analyze data from different information systems to discover the trends
and patterns in data


Use machine learning algorithms and statistical methods to create actionable plans and
provide solutions to the challenges


Produce executive reports for the relevant stakeholders with clear recommendations and insights


Use predictive modelling and not limited to improve student performance and retention, identify
at-risk students and the predicted outcome for the student; predict
future rankings of the university and assess the area for scope of improvement

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied
Mathematics or related discipline


Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Data Scientist/Statistician, or in a similar role

Technical Skills

Proficiency with different machine learning algorithms, advanced analytics and data mining techniques.


Strong understanding in mathematics and statistics


Working knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python and database query languages
such as SQL using Oracle, SQL Server and SQL query tools like TOAD,
SQL Developer


Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS; advanced knowledge of statistical methods and
techniques (regression, statistical tests, distributions etc.) and
experience in statistical analysis


Ability to interpret and assess data, analyze trends and forecasting using regression and other
methods of statistical modelling


Strong report writing skills and the ability to translate technical content into an
understandable and compelling report


Knowledge of data warehouse solutions and data lake


Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau


Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure
