Job Description
Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Dairy Farm Senior Stockman to join our client's operations. As a Senior Stockman, you will be responsible for overseeing the care and management of dairy livestock, ensuring high standards of animal welfare and productivity. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of dairy farming practices.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily operations of the dairy farm and manage livestock care, including feeding, milking, and health monitoring. Oversee the maintenance of barns, equipment, and pastures, ensuring a safe and clean environment for the animals. Assist in breeding and reproductive management of the herd. Train and mentor junior stockmen and farm staff on best practices for livestock handling. Record and analyze data related to production and herd health. Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and farm policies. Work closely with veterinarians and agricultural specialists to optimize livestock health and productivity. Manage feeding schedules and nutrition plans for dairy cattle. Participate in budgeting and resource planning for the dairy operation.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in dairy farm management or a similar role. In-depth knowledge of dairy farming practices and animal husbandry. Strong leadership and management skills to oversee farm operations and staff. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing farm conditions. Certified in animal husbandry or agriculture-related fields is preferred. Proficient in using farm management software for data tracking. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
