Book Illustrator Responsibilities & Duties

Creating illustrations that complement and enhance the text Collaborating with authors, editors, and publishers to understand the project requirements Revising and refining illustrations based on feedback Using digital or traditional media to create illustrations Conducting research to accurately depict the subject matter Ensuring consistent style and quality throughout a project Meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously Preparing and formatting illustrations for print or digital publication Keeping up-to-date with current illustration trends and techniques
Book Illustrator Qualifications & Skills

A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of illustration styles Experience with digital illustration software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop Previous experience illustrating books, particularly in the specific genre Familiarity with the publishing industry Strong communication and collaboration skills Basic understanding of typography and layout principles Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field. 1-2 years of proven experience as a Graphic Designer (agency experience preferred). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premium Pro, After Effect) and other graphic design software. Knowledge of HTML/CSS and responsive web design. Strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital and print design work. Solid understanding of layout, color theory, typography, and design principles.
