Main Purpose of the Job A decoration furniture carpenter is a skilled craftsman who builds and repairs furniture. They use a variety of tools and techniques to create beautiful and functional pieces of furniture. Main Competencies required for the Position Estimating the time and materials required to complete a project Different types of furniture and the materials used to repair them Purchasing materials and supplies Scheduling and coordinating work with other tradespeople Ensuring that projects are completed on time Ability to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of types decoration and building maintenance Knowledge of safe operation Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures Knowledge of First Aid and CPR Effective verbal and listening communications skills Time management skills demonstrate sound work ethics Main Duties / Responsibilities The main duties and responsibilities of a Decoration Furniture Painter are: Prepare surfaces for painting. This may include cleaning, sanding, and priming the surface. Apply paint or other finishes to furniture. This may be done by brush, roller, or sprayer. Create decorative finishes on furniture. This may include techniques such as glazing, gilding, and decoupage. Repair furniture as needed. This may include fixing cracks, dents, or scratches. Clean up and maintain work area. This may include sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste materials. Follow safety procedures. This may include using proper personal protective equipment and following safe work practices. Meet deadlines as requirements. This may involve planning and scheduling work accordingly. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment. This may include cleaning, lubricating, and repairing tools and equipment. Order and inventory supplies. This may include keeping track of the quantity and type of supplies on hand. Minimum qualifications / educational levels required for this position High school diploma or equivalent.
