• Position: Coxswain
• Work Location: Abu Dhabi Island
• Rotation: 60/30

JOB PURPOSE:

• The job purpose of a Coxswain is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a boat, particularly in
• a rowing crew. This role is crucial for steering the boat, coordinating the power and rhythm of the
• rowers, and providing motivation and tactical guidance during races or training sessions. The
• coxswain acts as the leader and coach on the water, ensuring that the crew performs at their best
• and adheres to safety protocols.

3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 1. Safety: Always ensure the safety of the crew and the boat by steering properly and following
• maritime rules.
• 2. Coordination: Coordinate the power and rhythm of the rowers to maximize efficiency and speed.
• 3. Motivation: Provide encouragement and tactical advice to the crew, especially during races.
• 4. Communication: Maintain clear communication with the crew and other vessels.
• 5. Training Support: Assist in training sessions by implementing the coachs instructions and
• providing feedback
• 6. Boat Navigation: Steer and navigate the boat, ensuring it follows the correct course.
• 7. Crew Coordination: Coordinate the activities of the crew, ensuring they work together efficiently.
• 8. Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of the boat, ensuring it is in good working
• condition.
• 9. Emergency Response: Lead the crew in emergency situations, such as man-overboard drills or
• equipment failures.
• 10. Log Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all voyages, including details of routes, weather, conditions, and any incidents

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Experience: Proven experience as a coxswain or in a similar role, with a strong
• understanding of boat handling and navigation.
• Education: Relevant certifications in boating and navigation, such as a Coxswain Certificate
• or equivalent.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using navigation equipment and understanding maritime
• regulations.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle the demands of the role
