Job Purpose

This role supports and assists the Regional HR Manager Middle East & Egypt in providing senior generalist professional HR services and implementing AkzoNobel people calendar in Oman. The HR Manager will develop successful relationships with key stakeholders to understand their business requirements and be instrumental in applying HR policies and procedures in Oman, while ensuring full compliance against internal and external controls and legal frameworks

Key Accountabilities

Build positive relationships with the management team and employees to become a first point of reference for general HR advice and people related agenda. Assist staff and people managers in Oman with day-to-day queries and coach them on a range of HR issues and processes including performance management, grievances and disciplinary, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Manage, control and report payroll issues in liaison with the regional payroll team. Provide local assistance regarding the Organizational Health survey and encourage maximum participation levels though continuous communication and follow through. Maintain an open channel of communication with unionized employees and act as an ambassador of AkzoNobel to mitigate labour disputes. Localise regional HR policies and procedures for Oman in alignment with AkzoNobel's directives by advising on Omani labour law, market best practice, creating different policies and aligning HR offerings to internal and external legal frameworks. Assist the Regional Talent Acquisition team in the souring, interviewing, and onboarding of job candidates in Oman, and act as an agent for introducing quality Omani candidates to hiring managers & TA leads using own professional network. Act as a compliance ambassador to ensure full alignment of different administration and HR practices to internal and external applicable frameworks, laws, and policies. Take the right action and involve the relevant stakeholders if case of suspected breaches or misalignments. Lead the recruitment process for blue collar roles. Manage the admin/ facilities function to ensure timely and accurate added value of admin services. Provide guidance, networking solutions, and local support to Regional TA team in attracting Omani talent and maintaining satisfactory Omanization levels. Act as a guardian to help AkzoNobel Oman remain within the highest level of Omanization and work towards making it an employer of choice for local talent. Support the D&I and L&D global agenda implementation in Oman. Improve employee engagement and wellness through supporting the regional agenda and creating locally based drives that help the purpose and contribute to building a positive office environment.

Experience

This challenging position requires a minimum of 12 years of operational HR experience in Oman including at least 3 in a manufacturing or industrial environment of a multinational organization. Graduate level education ideally in an HR or a relevant business discipline. Very strong knowledge of the Omani Labour Law and government regulations with a proven ability to keep abreast of key employment trends and legislation developments. A self-disciplined and driven individual with a can-do attitude, that is eager to enhance HR offerings with proven experience in advising/ coaching people managers in a senior generalist role. Good MS Office skills (Word and Excel), familiarity with HR information systems, and strong English communication skills.
