Job Description

Key Responsibility:

Implement effective one-on-one trainee counseling intervention to support trainees academic performance and, wellbeing and personal growth in addition to group counselling addressing common difficulties or delivering soft skills.

JOB PURPOSE:

Empower the students to reach their fullest potential through 4 main functions: Provide appropriate assistance to the students to overcome their academic difficulties and personal stressors (family, career, social). Determine and facilitate the removal of barriers to learning through an interface between the students, instructors and management. Enhance the student's personal development and improve their social skills. Contribute to the application of ATA Rules & policies for the student's welfare.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

Student Counselling:

. Evaluate students' overall personal functioning through individual interviews: (family dynamic, educational background, personal stressors, etc). . Conduct guidance meetings with students as deemed necessary and as per the request of instructors and/or Section Heads to investigate, point out reasons such as medical, social, performance, or attitude, etc., and recommends to the team leader the proper disciplinary action. . Conduct individual counselling to help the student increasing his self-understanding and adjustment to achieve his academic and personal goals by building Individual development plan.

Group Sessions

. Conduct group counselling to help the students developing their skills, such as organizational and time management abilities, effective study habits etc. . Arrange periodic and regular lectures at both the ATA main campus and student hostel on various cultural, health, safety and social subjects in order to reinforce students' religious, social cultural and moral awareness.

Follow Up & Monitoring

. Monitor the individual student's progress and identify concerns that affect his performance, such as poor classroom attendance rates. . Give special attention to distinguished and talented students and encourage them by offering prizes, and incentives. . Receive the SPR and follows up taking the appropriate actions in liaise with instructors and management. . Supervise the works and activities of ATA Student Council and help the member students identify their problems and raise them with ATA Management on behalf of their fellow students. . Participate as a member of the Disciplinary Council and ensure that the decisions are applied.

Reporting

. Prepare weekly, mid-quarterly, and quarterly counsellor reports for Student services department manager, regarding behavioural, punctuality and academic situations along with actions taken and other related recommendations. . Coordinate with the instructors /OTC to issue the individual student behavioural appreciation.

Communication

. Keep close contact with the guardians of students in general, especially those suffering from academic, attendance or attitude problems and discuss with them the best ways to help such students. . Foster an environment of mutual trust between the students, instructors and ATA management insuring a link between different parties and encouraging professional attitude among the students.

Generic Accountabilities Supervision

. Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. . Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets

. Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver Section objectives. . Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Performance Management

. Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

. Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. . Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

Team Leader, Student Consulting Team. Counselling load ranging: Approx.150 students per counsellor. Frequent contacts with Instructors and Team Leaders regarding Counselling, disciplinary and other related matters. Work in very close collaboration with the officer administration. Coordinate student information dissemination to other counsellors or staff members according to the confidentiality policy. Give work direction to junior staff assigned to counsellors e.g. marshals etc.

External

Regular contacts with students' guardians/parents for investigating and counselling related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

. Bachelor's in Psychology, Social Science or equivalent.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

. 5 years' experience in counselling, with preferably 2 years in a vocational training centre related to oil/gas industry.

WORK CONDITION:

Physical Effort Work Environment

Minimal, involving sitting, walking, standing and computer operations. Normal office environment. Possibility to work afternoon shifts (hostel), or onsite for OJT counsellor
