Job Description

We are seeking a Cost Engineer with experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control for construction projects in the UAE.

Requirements:



Based in the UAE Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in cost engineering or quantity surveying Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting Familiarity with construction project management software Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field UAE Driving License

Key Responsibilities:



Extract accurate quantities from architectural, structural, MEP, and ID drawings. Prepare and cross-verify BOQs for all project stages Conduct independent measurement checks to verify contractor/consultant submission Prepare and validate project cost estimates at concept, schematic, and detailed design stages. Maintain updated knowledge of Dubai construction market trends, material rates, labor costs, and subcontractor pricing. Benchmark project costs against similar developments in Dubai (e.g., G+4, G+5, Villas). Review and verify consultant and contractor BOQs, cost breakdowns, and rate analyses. Assess variation claims, VOs (Variation Orders), and ensure justifications are aligned with project scope and market prices. Validate monthly contractor progress payments based on physical site work and approved quantities. Coordinate with contracts/legal teams on cost-related clauses in contracts. Provide value engineering recommendations and alternatives to minimize costs without compromising quality.

Meeting clients to determine their needs and discuss any areas that need revising for price or feasibility Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs and an achievable project timeframe. Negotiating labour contracts and schedules Advising clients and crew on legal matters and disputes Monitoring subcontractors, safety practices, construction progress and material needs, including any changes which may impact. Costs Preparing labour and supplier accounts for payment. Writing reports detailing costs and progress for clients. Prepare and manage tender documentation, evaluating bids and negotiating contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor project progress and expenditures, providing regular reports and forecasts to project stakeholders. Conduct detailed cost analysis and estimation for construction projects, ensuring accurate budgeting and financial forecasting. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with cost control measures and adjust budgets as necessary. Assess and mitigate financial risks throughout the project lifecycle, implementing strategies to manage unforeseen costs. Maintain comprehensive records of project costs, changes, and financial documentation for reporting and auditing purposes. Utilize advanced software tools for quantity take-offs and cost estimation, ensuring precision and efficiency in calculations. Participate in site visits and inspections to accurately assess project requirements and progress against budget expectations. Assist in the preparation of claims for variations and additional costs, providing necessary documentation and justifications. Support the development of project schedules and timelines, aligning financial planning with construction milestones. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is essential for technical expertise. A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in construction cost management showcasing proven industry knowledge. Professional certification such as MRICS or equivalent is highly desirable for credibility in the field. Experience with both residential and commercial construction projects will enhance versatility and adaptability. Proficiency in cost estimation software like CostX or similar tools is crucial for efficiency and accuracy. Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights for project stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with clients and subcontractors. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, promoting a culture of transparency and teamwork. Detail-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and financial planning. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of additional languages can be an asset in diverse environments.
