Sr. Cost Controller

Job Purpose, Scope of Work, and Authorities (Managerial or Technical):

The job purpose is to manage the cost and spending while tracking the activities to forecast cost and analyze the cost

risk for projects and for the company.

The scope of work is to control the cost within the preset budget.

The job authorities are mostly managerial supervising the work of subordinates and occasionally technical for which

the job holder may perform operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

\xc2\xb7 Prepare budgets and forecast costs.

\xc2\xb7 Study and understand all relevant project documents relating to cost management.

\xc2\xb7 Provide planning and cost control support for all projects which includes variation reporting, monitoring of

milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes etc.

\xc2\xb7 Monitor the status of purchases, invoicing, and delivery of materials up to the closure of the project.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that expenditures are kept within the preset budget.

\xc2\xb7 Understand the corporate and project(s) specific cost procedures and carry out all work in accordance with these.

\xc2\xb7 Work with the project personnel to ensure that cost control procedures are in place.

\xc2\xb7 Review cost commitment and expenditure information for all cost elements, for input to the computerized

cost control and reporting system ensuring that all information received is accurate and correctly recorded.

\xc2\xb7 Assist the projects managers in identifying and gaining approval of estimates/change requests.

\xc2\xb7 Prepare regular cost reports and advise Planning and Project Control Manager of any forecast cost overruns to

allow corrective actions to be taken in a timely manner.

\xc2\xb7 Highlight cost areas of concern and suggest areas of improvement.

\xc2\xb7 Maintain comprehensive accessible registers of financial approvals, variations, and change orders.

\xc2\xb7 Establish monthly evaluation of work, goods received, and services rendered for invoice preparation and verification.

\xc2\xb7 Monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors,

nd subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded.

People Management:

\xc2\xb7 Define the roles and responsibilities of the team members and evaluate their performance in a regular basis.

\xc2\xb7 Listen to the team, discuss their challenges, resolve problems, and direct activities to remove roadblocks and

achieve objectives.

\xc2\xb7 Organize the team and their daily activities while providing guidance on priorities.

\xc2\xb7 Verify and select personnel for administrative and technical jobs.

\xc2\xb7 Mentor, train, and transfer knowledge and skills to subordinates.

\xc2\xb7 Motivate and engage the team for better performance.

Operating Environment:

Work in indoor office / corporate environment.

Communication and working Relationship:

Internal: Legal, Procurement, Finance, Project team.

External: Suppliers, Vendors, Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors.
