: The Coral Reef Specialist position entails a pivotal role in the planning, implementation, and supervision of a large-scale coral reef restoration project based in the UAE. The primary focus of this role will be to lead the planning phase of the project, assemble a proficient execution team, oversee the construction and maintenance of reef balls, facilitate coral growth and transplantation, and ensure that all activities align with ecologically and scientifically sound practices. The ultimate aim is to rejuvenate local reef ecosystems and establish new coral reef habitats. A significant component of the role involves managing staff and interns, as well as demonstrating proactive decision-making abilities. This position necessitates exceptional leadership qualities, a solid scientific acumen, and a genuine enthusiasm for thriving in a startup environment. The ideal candidate should display unwavering dedication to spearheading the vision and trajectory of a pioneering mission-oriented enterprise, specifically its inaugural coral farm venture. Essential attributes include a robust entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability to dynamic and evolving scenarios, and a proven track record of innovative problem-solving. The incumbent must possess prior experience in coral propagation, coral nursery management, and aquarium upkeep. Required Qualifications / Experience:
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, or a closely related field.
  • A Master\xe2\x80\x99s or PhD degree in Coral Reef Biology or Ecology is preferred.
  • A verifiable history of successfully executing coral reef projects.
  • SCUBA certification with substantial scientific diving experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a consistently favorable driving record.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, GIS, and Stata or equivalent software (preferred).
  • Proficient organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • A collaborative and inventive mindset with the capacity to conceptualize transformative projects.
  • A proactive self-starter demonstrating determination for achieving outcomes and motivating team members to perform optimally.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in defining, establishing, and fulfilling pivotal project milestones.
