Job Description

The Office of Community Excellence (CE) at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is seeking a Coordinator of Community Engagement and Development to serve a core role in the CE Office. Working with and reporting to the Associate Dean for Community Excellence, the coordinator participates in the following tasks:

Initiate and support projects across the Office for Community Excellence (CE), in part by participating in CE standing committees as a member or co-chair; Coordinate communications between CE Office committees and the campus community; Support internal communication accuracy and transparency between departments and the campus community; Develop and facilitate internal and external CE programs and trainings; Attend and support CE events on campus and coordinate event volunteers; Build and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrative/academic departments across campus in order to effectively recognize and support community needs; Support the yearly records of the Office of CE.

The following qualifications and skills are required: BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree required in a field that supports the candidateaEUR(TM)s ability to communicate content across many audiences/stakeholders, develop and deliver community initiatives, and engage the campus. Potential fields may include but are not limited to communications, English studies, cultural studies, education, organizational leadership, or other relevant programs. Candidates with MasteraEUR(TM)s degrees are also welcomed. One to three years related experience in organizing or developing community initiatives. Ability to effectively work across a wide variety of constituency groups and organize support toward goals and plans. Ability to effectively use or learn a variety of programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Apps, and Wordpress. High emotional intelligence and an ability to navigate sensitive situations, maintain confidentiality and strong professional ethics. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organization, and the ability to work proactively and independently.
