The Psychiatrist primarily responsible is to provide general Psychiatric care for the patients of NMCRH-KC, in addition, the Psychiatrist may be directed by the Medical Director, or the Head of the Department to do other related duties.
Responsibilities:
3.1 Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental
disorder.
3.2 Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or
behavioral disorders.
3.3 Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss
treatment plans and progress.
3.4 Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from
patients, relatives, and other professionals.
3.5 Counsel outpatients and other patients during office visits.
3.6 Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
3.7 Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical
condition and mental disorder.
3.8 Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment.
3.9 Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals
3.10 Adheres to the highest standards of practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
3.11 Keep current with new techniques and philosophies related to all aspects of optometry field.
3.12 Participate in quality assurance committee meetings provider meetings, and general staff meetings.
3.13 Assist the Head of the Department in establishing medical polices, quality improvement procedures,
evaluating current practices, policies and procedures.
3.14 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.15 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.16 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.17 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.18 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.19 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.20 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
Qualifications:
4.1 Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency;
certification by the American Board of Psychiatric Medicine or Member of the Royal College of Physicians (or its
equivalent).
4.2 At least ten (10) years of practice as a psychiatrist with two (2) or more years as a licensed specialist.
4.3 Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
4.4 Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide
professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and
procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality
which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical
Organization.
4.5 Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice as a specialist in Psychiatric Medicine in
Abu Dhabi, UAE.
4.6 Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
