Job Description

Brilliant Planet has an exciting opening for an experienced construction professional to support the development of a 10-hectare demonstration site initially, which will be followed by a series of 1,000-hectare commercial sites (£100m+ ea.). The ideal candidate would have experience in the construction and project management of large infrastructure projects, from initial planning stages through to commissioning and handover. You will be part of the Project Management Office as part of the Product Design and Implementation Unit, reporting to the Senior Project Manager and will work closely with all other divisions and departments. The role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to progress their career working as part of a team of innovative and aspirational specialists, driven to tackle the climate change emergency. Responsibilities include: Leading the project team to carry out the implementation of construction contracts from initial tenders until the completion of the contractual obligations while safeguarding the interests of Brilliant Planet. Monitoring and controlling the performance of the construction contracts through their life cycle, through; Ensuring the Health and Safety of the workforce is paramount in project delivery Leading the implementation of Environmental Management System on site The verification and reporting of key deliveries on site The monitoring of key project deliverables against the programme Implementing the Quality Management System through inspection and test plans Ensuring effective contract administration Scrutinising commercial performance of the supply chain Driving cost effective procurement routes in conjunction with the engineering department Assigning roles and responsibilities to the project team and setting clear objectives Regularly reporting on risks impacting the time, cost, and quality of the project Building rapport with supply chain partners and nurturing long term successful relationships Anticipating risks and proposing remediation or risk mitigation measures through action plans. Ensuring coordination of the activities of the project contractors across multiple work packages Continuously seeking economic improvements to the contract Promoting Brilliant Planet in social and local events Requirements A degree in Engineering or similar relevant discipline and ideally qualified with a relevant professional institution Knowledge of local construction market and experience in working with international and national contractors in Morocco Experience in successfully driving a similar scale construction project from start to finish, with demonstrable performance in multipackage coordination, priority management, planning and problem solving with commitment to successful outcomes Ability to translate objectives into operational action plans, to organise and plan the project Experience in establishing and implementing performance control systems, tracking all change requests which might impact the project objectives Knowledge of national supply chain for primary construction materials, labour and plant Ability to establish project plans including the projection of resources (time, cost, personnel etc). Good command of project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite Good command of English, French and Arabic. Spanish would be advantageous Working knowledge of international and national construction contracts especially FIDIC Experience in largescale earthworks working for a contracting organisation would be advantageous Experience in implementing Health, Safety and Environmental controls on construction schemes
