Commis I
Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef
Job Overview:
The Commis I is an entry-level culinary position designed to learn and support the daily operations of a specific kitchen section. This role is foundational, focusing on skill development, basic food preparation, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness under the guidance of senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic food preparation tasks as directed by the Chef de Partie (e.g., chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, weighing ingredients).
  • Learn and adhere to all recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work areas.
  • Receive and store deliveries correctly.
  • Ensure all equipment is used correctly and kept clean.
  • Support other kitchen sections as needed.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • A passion for cooking and a desire to build a career in the culinary arts.
  • A culinary school diploma is beneficial but not always required.
  • No prior professional experience is necessary; training will be provided.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
