Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Commis Chef specializing in pastry, you will assist in the preparation and production of high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods. You will work closely with the Pastry Chef and other members of the kitchen team to ensure that all pastry items are prepared according to Gulf Court Hotel established recipes and standards. Your responsibilities will include measuring and mixing ingredients, baking and decorating pastries, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the pastry section of the kitchen.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and production of pastry items, including desserts, cakes, pastries, and bread. Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes. Bake, fry, or otherwise cook pastry items as required. Decorate and garnish pastries to enhance presentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry section of the kitchen, including equipment and work surfaces. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of pastry ingredients and supplies. Follow all safety and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations. Collaborate with other members of the kitchen team to ensure efficient operation of the pastry section.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working as a Commis Chef or in a similar role, preferably specializing in pastry. Knowledge of pastry techniques, including mixing, baking, decorating, and plating. Familiarity with a variety of pastry ingredients and their properties. Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality pastry items. Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines. Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary school is a plus.
