Job Summary
The Commis Chef assists in food preparation and kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of hygiene, quality, and efficiency while supporting senior kitchen staff.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of food as directed
Follow recipes and presentation standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP) are followed
Support senior chefs during service periods
Properly store food items and assist with stock rotation (FIFO)
Help with basic cooking, chopping, and plating
Report equipment faults or shortages to supervisors
Requirements & Skills
Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Team player with good communication skills
Culinary qualification or kitchen experience is an advantage
