Job Title: Commercial Kitchen Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Commercial Kitchen Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and planning functional and efficient kitchen layouts for commercial establishments such as restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, and other foodservice operations. The Commercial Kitchen Designer will collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to create custom kitchen designs that optimize space, improve workflow, ensure safety, and meet all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Consultation:

Meet with clients to understand their specific needs, budget, and vision for their commercial kitchen. Conduct site visits to assess space, utilities, and other factors that will influence the design. Advise clients on kitchen layout, equipment, and materials that best suit their needs and operational goals.

Design and Planning:

Create detailed kitchen layouts, floor plans, and 3D models using design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.). Develop designs that maximize efficiency, functionality, and safety while adhering to local codes and regulations. Select appropriate kitchen equipment, appliances, and fixtures based on client requirements and industry standards. Consider factors such as ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, and space optimization in all designs.

Collaboration:

Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the design is implemented accurately and efficiently. Provide technical support and design guidance during the construction and installation phases. Coordinate with vendors to procure kitchen equipment, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with the design specifications.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all designs meet local health, safety, and fire regulations. Stay up-to-date with industry codes, standards, and best practices related to commercial kitchen design. Incorporate sustainability practices into the design, such as energy-efficient appliances and environmentally friendly materials.

Project Management:

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded. Prepare project timelines, budgets, and progress reports for clients and management. Troubleshoot design issues and provide creative solutions as challenges arise during the design or construction process.

Post-Installation Support:

Conduct post-installation inspections to ensure design implementation meets client expectations. Offer ongoing support to clients after the kitchen is operational, making adjustments and recommendations as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Culinary Arts, or related field (preferred). Proven experience (X+ years) in commercial kitchen design, preferably in the foodservice industry. Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.). Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to commercial kitchens. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with clients, contractors, and team members. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Project management experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in commercial kitchen design or similar credentials. Experience working with sustainability in commercial kitchen designs. Familiarity with foodservice equipment suppliers and trends.

Work Environment:

This position may require both office-based work and field visits to client locations. Occasional travel may be required to meet with clients and oversee project progress.
