Commercial Director Grade: GG15 Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC). SMSCMC was created as a Saudi Arabian joint venture company co-owned by BAE Systems and local shareholders to deliver KSA industrialisation of supply chain management and thereby support Saudi Vision 2030. Job Purpose Reporting into the CEO, the Commercial Director will be a senior member of the SMSCMC management committee. The job holder will be responsible for providing commercial leadership to the business promoting a culture of informed decision making and supporting the negotiation of the delivery of contracts which support the Integrated Business Plan (IBP) in an environment underpinned by effective financial control and operating within the requirements of Life Cycle Management and the Operational Framework. The Commercial Director will lead the Commercial organisation across multiple locations in Saudi Arabia and the UK. The Commercial Director will also hold responsibility as the functional and primary point of leadership for the development and maintenance of commercial capability in SMSCMC across all programmes. To do so successfully they will possess excellent leadership and customer management skills/behaviours and will continue to drive continuous improvement on the commercial/contracts performance across the business. Key to this is the requirement to develop,, the commercial organisation ensuring it has the relevant skills, capabilities, competences and experience required. A critical element of the role will is to support the Management Committee in the effective forecasting and implementation of the business IBP whilst ensuring the company delivers both existing business and captures new business opportunities. SMSCMC is a key contributor to the successful implementation of the BAE Systems' industrialisation strategy for Saudi Arabia and support to Vision 2030. The Commercial Director is therefore charged with optimising career opportunities for Saudi nationals, transferring key commercial expertise and ensuring that SMSCMC develops and delivers significant indigenous capability and value to Saudi Arabia. As a member of the SMSCMC Management Committee, the Commercial Director has additional responsibility to support the growth of the business through securing new business opportunities . The position holder is also accountable for the operation and performance of the business whilst demonstrating and advocating our leadership behaviours and enacting the agreed company strategy.

Accountabilities Member of the Management Committee responsible for the operation and performance of the business, definition and implementation of the strategy and delivery of the Integrated Business Plan Work with the delivery teams to ensure effective application of Life Cycle Management and to provide functional/business guidance and support Maintain and deliver appropriate levels of governance and controls through the application of the Operational Framework and Commercial Policy underpinning Commercial capability. Maintain an effective approach to support the development of Commercial staff capability Develop functional capabilities through effective resource planning, individual development plans, talent management and promotion of Saudisation Support business winning, cash management and improving profitability Lead contract negotiations to ensure the successful conclusion, determine pricing, payment strategies and policies in assigned areas. Develop, co-ordinate and implement overall financial targets and budgetary management strategies in assigned areas Manage potential areas of risk and carry out risk analyses and assessments to support the minimisation of risk. Build, manage and maintain relationships with existing and potential customers to ensure the effective management of both current and new business. Lead on the resolution of commercial issues to facilitate effective business decision-making. Inspire and develop team to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their responsibilities. Lead the development of the Functional Plan and the commercial manual and communicate/implement them in assigned area to deliver strong governance and business effectiveness. Lead interfaces with Finance, Legal, HR and Group Tax to establish effective contracting and pricing models. Lead RBA activities. Recruitment Specification Relevant Degree/Master's Degree or equivalent and or extensive proven commercial experience Strong relationship development and influencing skills; Proven experience in developing, negotiating, agreeing and managing defence contracts of high value and complexity Member or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or accredited by the International Association for Contracts and Commercial Management (IACCM) or equivalent. Extensive knowledge of business unit financial/commercial/procurement policies and the business unit approach to Life Cycle Management Experience of working effectively with the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia and Head Office organisation as well as senior stakeholders in OMC, KPC's, the Customer, partner and supplier community In depth knowledge of the KSA and GCC defence markets, competitors, supply base, products/services and SMSCMC strategy Business Expertise Proven senior leader with a commercial/procurement functional background SMSCMC is a multi-cultural organisation comprising circa 400 personnel split 70/30% between Saudi Arabian nationals and expatriate employees. Experience of and/or a commitment to working in such an environment is essential; Experience of working as a member of a senior management team as well as leading their own team. As a member of the SMSCMC management committee the job-holder will be expected to actively contribute to the wider management and direction of the business; Excellent leadership, relationship and stakeholder management skills required including the ability to motivate and inspire others at all levels; A commitment to the development and support of others. A recognition and acceptance of the need to develop sustainable, indigenous Saudi national supply chain capability.
