The Role
Key Responsibilities: Coffee Roasting: \xe2\x80\xa2 Operate and maintain coffee roasting equipment, including roasters, grinders, and related machinery. \xe2\x80\xa2 Roast coffee beans to the desired flavor, color, and aroma, carefully monitoring temperature, time, and airflow during the roasting process. \xe2\x80\xa2 Follow established roast profiles and adjust variables as needed to achieve desired results. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct quality control assessments, including visual inspection, aroma evaluation, and flavor profiling. Inventory Management \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor and manage coffee bean inventory, ensuring an adequate supply of roasted beans to meet production demands. \xe2\x80\xa2 Coordinate with suppliers to source and procure high-quality green coffee beans. \xe2\x80\xa2 Track and document inventory levels, roast dates, and other relevant data for traceability and quality control purposes. Quality Assurance: \xe2\x80\xa2 Implement and maintain quality control standards throughout the coffee roasting process. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct regular cupping sessions to evaluate and analyze coffee flavors, acidity, body, and overall quality. \xe2\x80\xa2 Identify and address any inconsistencies or deviations from desired flavor profiles, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and consistency. Production and Packaging: \xe2\x80\xa2 Collaborate with the production team to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of roasted coffee orders. \xe2\x80\xa2 Package roasted coffee beans in appropriate quantities and formats, ensuring freshness and preservation of flavors. \xe2\x80\xa2 Label and date packages accurately, maintaining proper inventory rotation. Equipment Maintenance: \xe2\x80\xa2 Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of coffee roasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. \xe2\x80\xa2 Troubleshoot and address any operational issues or malfunctions promptly. Industry Knowledge and Innovation: \xe2\x80\xa2 Stay updated on industry trends, emerging coffee origins, and new roasting techniques. \xe2\x80\xa2 Continuously explore and experiment with different coffee beans, blends, and roasting profiles to develop unique flavors and offerings. \xe2\x80\xa2 Contribute to the development of new coffee blends and products, collaborating with the team to innovate and meet customer demands.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster or in a similar role is required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong knowledge of coffee bean origins, characteristics, and roast profiles. \xe2\x80\xa2 Expertise in coffee roasting techniques, temperature control, and airflow management. \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent sensory evaluation skills for cupping and flavor profiling. \xe2\x80\xa2 Familiarity with coffee grinding and packaging processes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing multiple roasts and tasks simultaneously. \xe2\x80\xa2 Understanding of food safety and quality control standards. \xe2\x80\xa2 Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed.
