Climate Communications & Marketing Consultant

Job Description

Emirates Nature-WWF is initiating a new climate change and decarbonization project and looking for a consultant to support the communications and marketing activities of the project. The project’s vision is to create an alliance of stakeholders to increase momentum of net-zero targets and implementation and see greater collaboration to achieve the Paris Agreement. EN-WWF is seeking a communications consultant to support the strategic, operational and tactical elements to deliver the project successfully. The consultant will oversee all aspects of marketing and communication elements of the project and ensure the successful delivery of the project’s objectives, goals, outcomes and activities. These elements include conceptualizing and delivering a marketing and brand strategy, the project’s website, social media plan and leading on event management.
The successful candidate should have sound knowledge and working experience in climate change or nature conservation communications and marketing with experience in working with civil-society or non-governmental organizations. The candidate will be able to work independently and in coordination with relevant team members and delivery high quality outcomes. The role location is flexible and requires part-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities
Project Brand Development:
Lead on the full development of the project’s brand in coordination with team and with support from external suppliers and designers. Website
Lead on the development of the project’s website by creating, building, developing, and drafting content. Social media:
Lead the development of the project’s social media strategy and implement the activities of the strategy which may include: identifying social media channels, tone of voice, communication frequency and developing content plans, content calendar, imagery and captions (English & Arabic). Analytics:
Create a dashboard to create and overview of project’s digital presence, review analytics and suggest areas of improvement. PR:
Lead on press and outreach strategy development and implementation with the support of an agency: identify launch plan with press release (in coordination with social) and identify publications, interviews, positioning, etc. Marketing & Digital Marketing:
Lead on the development of materials to support membership outreach and member acquisition with support from a graphic designer. Materials could include pamphlets, brochure, leaflets, digital banner ads, performance marketing, etc. Member & partner outreach: ensure planning, coordination and implementation of consistent member updates through a (monthly or quarterly TBD) newsletter that is curated with relevant information and news to update members, partners, donors and more on project milestones. Event management: lead the planning and implementation of launch event, workshops, conferences and Champion dialogues through coordination, branding, comms, marketing and more.
COP27 & COP28:
Support in planning for and implementing panels, events and launches at COP27 & COP28 and provide event coordination, key messages, briefing documents and more.
Required Qualifications
Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in communication and marketing, brand management, event management and social media experience. Relevant experience in conservation and climate communications and marketing would be a plus.
  • Proven track record of developing and successfully implementing marketing, communications and advocacy strategies amongst a wide group of stakeholders.
  • Ability to conceptualize and create messages, tools and approaches which link to the project’s objectives and key issues across audiences.
  • Excellent command of English both verbal and written. Arabic would be a plus.
  • Capacity to translate sophisticated conservation, science and policy projects into compelling communication opportunities.
  • Good experience in main communications fields – media, web, social media, events, publications, visual communications (photos and videos), advertising, campaigning, communications partnerships.
Education/skills
  • Undergraduate degree in policy, marketing, business administration or communications. Post-graduate/graduate degree considered a plus.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable

Working relationships
Internal - Works closely with Head of Climate and other Unit members such as the Conservation Director, coordinates as required with all units; including Communications, Operations, Business Development teams, advises and supports ENWWF high level engagement in climate dialogues
External - Works closely with Stakeholders, Consultants and Suppliers, as well as WWF International always representing ENWWF and carrying forward the organizational values.
