Preparation of Quantities and Cost Estimates
Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
Provide accurate cost estimates for civil works at various design stages (concept, schematic, detailed).
Tender and Contract Documentation
Assist in preparing tender documentation in accordance with local and international standards.
Review and analyze contractor submissions and tender queries.
Cost Planning and Budgeting
Develop and monitor project cost plans aligned with client budgets.
Advise design teams on cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities.
Well-versed in current construction prices, building materials, architectural finishes, and MEP accessories, with the ability to assess cost implications accurately across project phases.
Post-Contract Cost Management
Track and verify contractor claims, variations, and interim payment applications.
Assist in preparing final accounts and close-out reports.
Compliance with Local Standards
Ensure adherence to Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, RTA, and other local authority regulations.
Apply knowledge of UAE construction codes and practices in cost assessment.
Coordination and Reporting
Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project execution.
Prepare and submit regular cost reports and forecasts for client review.
Support in Dispute Resolution
Provide commercial support in handling claims, disputes, and contractual issues.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
3-5 years of relevant experience working with engineering or architectural consultancies in Dubai.
Familiarity with large-scale civil, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in cost estimating and quantity take-off tools such as CostX, PlanSwift, or similar.
Skilled in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and knowledge of BIM-based take-offs (Revit/Navisworks) is an advantage.
Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and local procurement processes.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Experience dealing with UAE government and regulatory bodies (Dubai Municipality, RERA, DEWA, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building), or working towards chartership, is an added advantage.
