Job Overview:

The Civil Handyman is responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance, repair, and construction tasks within commercial and residential facilities managed by the company. This role requires practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general building repairs, ensuring the upkeep and functionality of the facilities. The Civil Handyman must be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and provide high-quality service to maintain a safe and pleasant environment.

Key Responsibilities:

General Repairs and Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fixing doors, windows, locks, and other fixtures. Repair minor plumbing issues, such as leaking faucets, clogged drains, and replacing fixtures. Carry out basic electrical repairs, such as replacing light bulbs, switches, and outlets. Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.

Carpentry and Masonry:

Execute basic carpentry tasks, including assembling and installing furniture, repairing cabinetry, and fixing wood structures. Perform minor masonry work, such as repairing walls, floors, and other structural elements.

Painting and Finishing:

Prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as needed. Repair and touch up paintwork to maintain the appearance and integrity of the facility.

Construction Support:

Assist in small construction or renovation projects, including demolishing old structures, installing partitions, and laying tiles or flooring. Collaborate with other trades, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure coordinated and efficient project completion.

Preventive Maintenance:

Conduct preventive maintenance activities, such as checking and repairing roofs, gutters, and drainage systems. Maintain and repair exterior structures, including fences, gates, and walkways.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure that all maintenance work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and company standards. Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices. Identify and report any potential safety hazards to the facility manager.

Customer Service:

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and provide high-quality service to facility occupants. Communicate effectively with clients and other team members, providing updates on work progress and any issues encountered.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance tasks performed, including materials used, time spent, and any follow-up work required. Report to the facility manager on the status of ongoing repairs, completed tasks, and any major issues that need attention.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in relevant trades is a plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field. Proficiency in carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general repair tasks. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and construction drawings. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and customer service skills. * Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work at heights, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
