Job Description

Job Summary: The Civil Engineer - Roads & Infrastructure will be responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of roadways, highways, drainage systems, utilities, and related infrastructure projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design & Planning:

• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for road and infrastructure projects using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and topographic surveys.
• Develop cost estimates, material specifications, and project schedules.
• Ensure designs comply with local regulations, international standards (AASHTO, ASTM), and client requirements.

2. Project Management:

• Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, reporting to stakeholders as needed.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, surveyors, and government agencies.
• Resolve technical issues and provide on-site engineering support.

3. Quality Control & Compliance:

• Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks on materials and construction work.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability practices.
• Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders.

4. Drainage & Utility Infrastructure:

• Design stormwater drainage systems, culverts, and sewer networks.
• Coordinate with utility providers (water, electricity, telecom) for integration into road projects.

5. Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and progress updates.
• Maintain accurate project records, including as-built drawings and compliance documentation.

6. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):

• Implement and enforce safety protocols on construction sites.
• Ensure projects follow environmental protection guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills: Education & Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (preferred).
• PMP certification (advantageous for project management roles).

Experience:

• Minimum [X] years of experience in road and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, GIS, and other engineering software.
• Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of road design standards (AASHTO, local codes).
• Experience in geotechnical analysis, pavement design, and earthworks.
• Understanding of stormwater management and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Work Environment:

• Office-based design work with frequent site visits.
• May require travel to project locations.
