Vendor Management:
Soliciting and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to integrate into the final estimate.
2. Tendering & Bid Management
Tender Preparation:
Compiling comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for submission to clients or government portals.
Document Review:
Analyzing tender documents, specifications, and contract terms (e.g., FIDIC) to identify risks, feasibility, and special requirements.
Value Engineering:
Identifying cost-saving opportunities or alternative solutions that maintain quality while lowering the bid price.
Submission & Follow-up:
Managing the bid calendar to ensure timely submission and responding to post-tender clarifications from the client.
3. Strategic Coordination
Internal Liaison:
Collaborating with procurement, design, and site engineering teams to align estimates with project reality.
Risk Assessment:
Identifying potential commercial risks and including necessary contingencies in the pricing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
Software Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, and specialized estimation software like CCS Candy, CostX, or PlanSwift.
Analytical Skills:
Strong mathematical ability and attention to detail to avoid costly errors in project quantification.
Negotiation:
Ability to negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing for the company.
Experience:
Typically 3-5+ years in civil construction, often with specific experience in local municipality or government tendering portals.
