Job Description

Citizens is a visionary new school in Dubai that is reimagining education. It now requires an outstanding, creative, and inspiring Principal to lead it beyond its founding year. Citizens School opened in 2022 with learners in Years 1-6. Designed and developed by Al Zarooni Emirates Investments, Citizens focuses on each child\xe2\x80\x99s unique requirements, empowering them with choices to explore themes, expand interests, and determine how to reach their full potential. At Citizens, each child is a learner, and each teacher is a mentor, a deliberate attempt to redefine the process of education from the very outset. Influenced by some of the world\'s leading cognitive scientists and researchers on education, motivation and mindsets, Citizens is a fully inclusive school. It seeks to equip students to become successful citizens of the future by providing them with a wide range of future-ready skills through the Citizens Future Framework, a custom-built curriculum tailored for each child\xe2\x80\x99s unique strengths and approach to learning and making use of both the UK National Curriculum and, once the secondary school becomes established, IB programs. The 43,000m2 school campus has capacity for 2,600 learners between the ages of three and 18 with almost 3,000m2 of open recreation space and facilities that have been designed for Citizens\xe2\x80\x99 innovative approach now and in the future. There is now an extraordinary opportunity to guide Citizens beyond its first year and into a fully functioning through-school fully aligned with its ambitious mission and vision. This will require a Principal who will wholeheartedly embrace what Citizens is setting out to do and who will be prepared to be a disruptor in the traditional education space. It will need a leader with a keen interest in curriculum design, to create and iterate a distinctive curriculum that reflects Citizens\xe2\x80\x99 aims; expertise in designing a secondary school curriculum will be especially advantageous. The Citizens Principal will also be able to look creatively at the overall operations of a school so that challenging convention is a reality in every aspect of the school\xe2\x80\x99s organization. And the Principal will need to understand that Citizens is not just located in Dubai but draws its energy and purpose from its location, with the school forming a part of Dubai\xe2\x80\x99s ecosystem and seeking to generate future leaders who will contribute to its knowledge economy. This is role for a bold, ambitious, and experienced school leader who is seeking an opportunity to make a difference, not only within the school but more generally as an influencer in international education.
