Job Summary:

The Chief Accountant for Residences is responsible for managing the financial transactions and records associated with residential properties. This role involves overseeing accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The General Accountant collaborates with property managers, homeowners associations, and other stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records and support decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities: * Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for residential properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets for residential properties. Track expenses and revenue streams to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and collections related to residential property expenses and rental income. Communicate with vendors, contractors, and tenants regarding billing and payment inquiries.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for residential properties. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry guidelines. Maintain documentation to support audits and financial reviews.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with property managers, homeowners associations, and other stakeholders to address financial concerns, resolve discrepancies, and support strategic planning initiatives.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making processes related to property investments, renovations, and operational improvements.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance controls, and improve efficiency within the residential property management function.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Previous experience in property management accounting or real estate finance preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Yardi, or MRI.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations
