Managing the patient care unit / area of assignment for administrative / educational or clinical aspects within area of assignment to include organizing, developing, directing and assuring the delivery of cost-effective quality patient care.
Contributes to establishing strategic departmental / health service plans to meet organisational objectives.
Ensures the efficient utilisation of resources and maintaining patient safety and meeting quality standards within area of assignment.
Contributes to designing and implementing policies and procedures for the nursing and midwifery services, reviewing the current evidence-based nursing and midwifery practice and benchmarking against international best practices.
Responsible for implementation and ensuring change is managed in area of assignment by developing, implementing and monitoring KPIs; engaging staff in the process.
Evaluates nursing personnel performance based on professional practice, standards, relevant statistics and regulation criteria.
Participates actively in quality improvement programs to provide a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Contributes to the annual manpower budget and recruitment plan for area of assignment. In coordination with Nurse Supervisor which includes selection, induction and orientation process.
Reviews all incident reports relating to area of assignment, recommend additional follow up / escalation as appropriate, tracking of trends and recommend initiatives for change.
Identifying risk management issues in area of assignment and maintain risk management register. Identifies strategies for change to reduce severity of identified risks within area of assignment.
Prepares unit / service statistics, analyses data to identify issues / trends and recommends appropriate strategies.
Undertakes any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing / Assistant Director of Nursing / Area Nurse Manager.
Acts on behalf of Area Nurse Manager in her / his absence
Qualifications
BSC/or equivalent in Nursing or Midwifery
Recognized certification or accumulation of accredited training courses of not less than 40 credit hours in nursing/nursing education or healthcare management within two years prior to applying to this position
