is responsible for the fitout, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of wooden structures and fittings within residential buildings. This includes doors, wardrobes, cabinets, shelves, and other wooden or composite fixtures. The role plays a key part in ensuring functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing woodwork in both individual apartments and common areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Common Areas Maintenance
Install and repair wooden fixtures such as doors, door frames, handrails, skirting boards, and decorative elements in lobbies, corridors, and other shared areas.
Maintain built-in wooden structures including wall panels, notice boards etc.
Repair or replace damaged locks, hinges, handles, and wooden hardware in public areas.
Assist with small-scale refurbishments and modifications of wooden elements as required.
2. Apartment / Unit Maintenance
Repair and maintain wooden doors, kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and shelves inside apartments.
Replace or adjust door locks, hinges, drawer runners, handles, and other joinery hardware.
Perform custom carpentry modifications to meet resident or facility requirements.
Support unit turnover work by repairing or replacing damaged wooden fixtures during tenant move-ins/move-outs.
3. Preventive Maintenance & Reporting
Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance of joinery components to ensure durability and safety.
Maintain logs of completed work, inventory usage, and resident maintenance requests.
Report recurring joinery issues or structural defects to supervisors for long-term resolution.
4. Safety & Compliance
Follow company safety procedures, including PPE use and safe handling of tools and materials.
Ensure all joinery installations comply with building and fire safety standards.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe for residents and staff.
Use hand tools and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
5. Emergency Support
Respond to urgent service requests such as jammed doors, broken locks, or structural wooden fixture failures.
Assist with emergency boarding, safety closures, or temporary repairs when needed.
Qualifications:
ITI or Diploma in Carpentry, Woodworking, or related trade.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in joinery or furniture carpentry, preferably in residential or facilities environments.
Strong knowledge of woodworking materials, tools, and joinery techniques.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings or blueprints.
Skilled in using carpentry tools such as saws, routers, drills, chisels, and sanders.
Good troubleshooting, finishing, and repair skills.
Ability to work independently or in coordination with other maintenance staff.
Customer service oriented with effective communication skills.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or respond to emergency call-outs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry carpentry tools, wooden boards, and fixtures.
Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces using ladders or scaffolding.
Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and using hand tools for extended periods.
Able to work in varying environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor).
