Position Brief
Care Management Specialists assist the NYU Abu Dhabi community in accessing care outside the Health and Wellness Center.
Position Summary
NYU Abu Dhabi has positions available for Care Management Specialists to assist the NYUAD community in accessing care outside the Health and Wellness Center. They also greet visitors, direct them to care as appropriate, and schedule appointments when the Administrative Coordinator is not available.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the NYUAD community in accessing care outside the Health and Wellness Center including:

• Locating, investigating, and evaluating outside patient care options
• Scheduling appointments
• Accompanying students to appointments
• Facilitating continuity of care by communicating with outside care providers (to obtain diagnostic and treatment reports, coordinate follow-up, assure payment, etc.)

Greet visitors, direct them to care as appropriate, and schedule appointments. Serve as a source of information to students, faculty, staff. Respond to general inquiries, resolve routine problems, and consult with Director on more complex issues.
Assist Registered Nurses with on-call after hours when the Health and Wellness Center is closed.

Education requirements (essential)

• Bachelors in health related area or business administration
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
• CPR certification.

Experience requirements (essential)

• At least five (5) years' experience in a health delivery setting required
• Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record
• Prior experience working with college-age population preferred
• Prior work experience in the United Arab Emirates preferred
• Ability to work independently with little supervision or direction
• Ability to work with a diverse, international population
• Strong work ethic and exceptional interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cultural issues specific to the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East preferred
• Ability to understand the wider perspective of the institution and how the Health and Wellness Center supports and fits into the broader educational mission
• Ability to understand and appreciate intellectual, emotional, social, and psychological development of undergraduate students in a diverse international community committed to intellectual rigor and ethical values
• Ability to think creatively and critically about programs, services, and resources in order to provide the best possible environment to support students
• Ability to adapt to new work situations, people, ideas, procedures, and organizational structures in order to accommodate an evolving work environment
• Exhibits maturity, reliability, composure, and stability under pressure in order to handle on-the-job challenges
• Excellent mediation, and consultative skills and is able to work with students, faculty and staff from many backgrounds
• Ability to build successful relationships with faculty, students, parents and co-workers.
• Maintain case records, noted, and summaries for all patients assisted
