Job role- Cognos Developer Job Type- Contract, 12 months (Extendable) Job summary The primary function of this position is to design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions that leverage data warehouse, BI reporting and analytic solutions. The areas of focus will be the development of reports and dashboards. Responsibilities:
Contract length: 12 months
- Develop and maintain reports using Cognos 10.2 Report Studio
- Develop and maintain dashboards and apply data visualization best practices
- Define and document setup and configuration parameters
- Define and follow Cognos development best practices
- Provide subject matter expertise in Cognos BI 10.2 solution architecture
- Provide system support for the Cognos environment (Cognos Administration for both the development and production environments)
- Manage report security, folder security, database row level security, report schedules and distribution
- Coordinating with Software Testers and Release Management to integrate the final work product into the production environment by creating deployment files
- Familiarity with development methodologies
- 5+ years experience and a deep technical knowledge with Cognos Report Studio
- 3+ years experience and a technical knowledge with Cognos Administration
- Must have visual design concepts for dashboards (Mobile/Desktop)
- 3+ years experience with Event Studio
- 3+ years experience with Analysis Studio
- Experience with Cognos 10.2 Dynamic Cubes
- Experience with Cognos 10 DQM
- Strong PL/SQL development experience with the ability to write complex and nested SQL queries
- Senior level skills in building Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards and Active Reports using IBM Cognos 10.x
- Experience working in a software development environment
- Microsoft Sql Server 2008 and 2012
- Clear, logical, and effective verbal/written communication skills.
- Clearly demonstrated sense of urgency and bias for action.
- Ability to work well under pressure and independently.
- Ability to forge strong working relationships at senior levels.
- Ability to effectively negotiate with other teams to create a mutually beneficial solution
- Ability to effectively direct the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical material.
- Takes ownership of problems and develops sound solutions.
- Demonstrates sound analytical and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are not readily defined and/or conflict with available information. Has the ability to reach sound decisions quickly.
- Able to fully research business situation, identify areas of concern and present solution.
- Has a solid working knowledge of capabilities and direction of technology, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of the business environment necessary to support assigned projects.
- Skilled at identifying flat areas and providing feedback to employees for performance improvement.
