Job Summary
The BIM QA/QC Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and adherence to standards of all BIM models and project data throughout the project lifecycle. You will act as a gatekeeper, developing and enforcing QA/QC protocols, conducting audits, and collaborating with project teams to resolve issues. Your expertise will be critical in mitigating risk, preventing rework, and ensuring our models are fit for purpose, including design, construction, and facilities management.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Process Development (30%)

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's BIM QA/QC standards, protocols, and execution plans.
• Create and manage detailed checklists and validation procedures for model geometry, data, and documentation.
• Conduct regular training sessions for project teams on BIM standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices.
• Stay current with industry standards (e.g., ISO 19650, BIM Forum LOD Specification) and integrate them into company practices.

Quality Control & Model Auditing (50%)

• Perform routine and automated audits on BIM models from internal teams and external stakeholders (architects, engineers, contractors).
• Validate models for compliance with project BEP (BIM Execution Plan), EIR (Employer's Information Requirements), and company standards.
• Check for model health, including file integrity, naming conventions, correct use of parameters, clash-free geometry, and proper object classification (e.g., Uniclass, OmniClass).
• Run and analyze clash detection reports, coordinating with the VDC/BIM Manager and project teams to resolve conflicts.
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of model-based drawings, schedules, and data extraction.
• Document and track all identified issues using a common data environment (CDE) like BIM 360/Acc or other project management software.

Collaboration & Reporting (20%)

• Work closely with the VDC/BIM Manager, project managers, designers, and engineers to communicate QA/QC findings and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Generate detailed QA/QC reports for project leadership, highlighting trends, recurring issues, and overall model health status.
• Participate in project kick-off and coordination meetings to establish quality expectations from the outset.
• Provide feedback to improve modeling practices and templates continuously.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a BIM-focused role, with at least 1-2 years specifically in a QA/QC, coordination, or model management capacity.
• Technical Proficiency:
• Expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage is essential.
• Strong experience with BIM 360/Acc or other Common Data Environments (CDEs).
• Proficiency with clash detection and automation tools (e.g., Solibri Model Checker, Dynamo, Specified Systems).
• Solid understanding of BIM standards: ISO 19650, US National BIM Standard (NBIMS), or UK BIM Framework.
• Soft Skills:
• Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback clearly and diplomatically.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• A proactive and self-motivated mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, ISO 19650 Certificate).
• Experience with other BIM software (ArchiCAD, Bentley Systems, Tekla).
• Experience with scripting for automation (Dynamo, Python).
• Knowledge of trade-specific modeling practices (MEP, Structural, Architectural).
• Field construction experience, understanding the direct link between the model and the built asset.
