Job Description

Job Summary
The BIM Manager will be the company-wide lead for all Building Information Modeling (BIM) and VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) processes and technology. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing BIM standards, protocols, and workflows across all projects and disciplines. The ideal candidate is a technical expert, a strong leader, and an effective communicator who can bridge the gap between design, technical teams, and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the company's BIM strategy and roadmap, aligning with business goals.
  • Champion the adoption of BIM and digital practices across the organization.
  • Lead the BIM Coordination team and act as the primary point of contact for all BIM-related issues.
  • Report to senior management on BIM performance, ROI, and future initiatives.
Standards & Process Development:
  • Create, implement, and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and execution plans (BEPs).
  • Develop and maintain company-wide BIM content (libraries, families, templates, etc.).
  • Establish and manage Common Data Environments (CDE) like Autodesk BIM 360/ACC for project collaboration.
  • Define and manage LOD (Level of Development) specifications for projects.
Project Support & Coordination:
  • Lead project kick-off meetings to establish BIM goals and protocols.
  • Facilitate internal and external BIM coordination meetings (clash detection, model reviews).
  • Resolve complex technical and procedural BIM issues on active projects.
  • Ensure model integrity, data quality, and adherence to project standards.
Technical Management & Support:
  • Manage, configure, and support BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new software, plugins, and technologies.
  • Manage software licensing, deployments, and updates in coordination with IT.
  • Oversee the company's hardware needs related to BIM production (e.g., workstations, servers).
Training & Development:
  • Assess team skills and identify training needs.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing BIM training programs for staff at all levels.
  • Mentor and coach BIM Coordinators and power users within project teams.
Collaboration & Data Management:
  • Develop standards for data exchange with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Ensure seamless integration between BIM and other project systems (e.g., ERP, project management software).
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies (AI, VR, AR), and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a BIM-focused role within the AEC industry (e.g., BIM Manager, BIM Coordinator, VDC Engineer).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage.
  • In-depth knowledge of BIM standards: ISO 19650, UK BIM Framework, or US National BIM Standard (NBIMS).
  • Proven experience developing and enforcing BIM standards, BEPs, and templates.
  • Strong experience with Common Data Environments (CDE) such as Autodesk BIM 360/ACC.
  • Excellent understanding of multi-disciplinary coordination and clash detection processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
Preferred:
  • Proficiency with other software: Dynamo, Solibri, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Power BI, or coding/scripting (Python, C#).
  • Experience with other disciplines' software (e.g., Archicad, Tekla, Bentley, Civil 3D).
  • Knowledge of interoperability and openBIM standards (IFC, COBie).
  • Experience with automation and process improvement.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, PMP).
