Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Barge Superintendent to lead the safe and efficient operation of offshore construction barges across complex Oil & Gas projects. The role carries full responsibility for barge operations, HSE compliance, asset integrity, and client interface, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in line with contractual requirements.
Job Responsibilities

  • Overall supervision and administration of floating and jack-up construction barges on offshore projects.
  • Act as the company's offshore representative, coordinating with clients, field authorities, subcontractors, and onshore management.
  • Ensure all barge operations comply with the Barge Management Manual, project procedures, and HSE standards.
  • Oversee anchor handling, barge positioning, crane and lifting operations, stinger and stern extension installation, and marine spread coordination.
  • Coordinate mobilization/demobilization activities, permits, and operational readiness with the base office.
  • Lead onboard HSE implementation, including toolbox talks, risk assessments, emergency drills, and incident investigations.
  • Oversee maintenance and operational readiness of barge equipment in coordination with the Chief Engineer.
  • Liaise with fleet and asset integrity teams for class surveys, inspections, and certifications.
  • Manage onboard logistics, warehousing, catering services, and crew rotations to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Monitor weather conditions and take decisive action to safeguard personnel, assets, and operations.
  • Prepare operational reports and communicate progress, risks, and plans to stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years' experience on offshore construction barges (floating and jack-up) within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Offshore barge operations
  • Derrick cranes, heavy lifting, rigging
  • Anchor winch systems and barge positioning
  • Ballast & bilge systems and engine room equipment
  • Solid knowledge of offshore construction standards and HSE systems (HSEMS, ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001, PTW, LOTO).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage large, multidisciplinary offshore teams.
  • Strong English communication, reporting, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • High level of safety awareness, operational discipline, and attention to detail.
