Urgent requirement for Backup Engineer to be based in Romania for a major IT vendor. As a Backup Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of backup and recovery solutions for our clients' data environments. Your expertise in technologies like DataDomain, Quantum, TSM, and NetBackup will ensure efficient and reliable data protection, backup operations, and disaster recovery. Responsibilities: Administration: Monitors, reviews, and manages in scope infrastructure. Manages user requests. Manages and reviews log files. Generates regular operational reports.
Change Management: Performs software/firmware management assistance and collaboration. Implements change management requests. Assists with solution documentation of policies and procedures in conjunction with the compliance manager(s) and with key stakeholders. Manages migration activities (monitor reports).

Post Implementation Planning and Knowledge Sharing: Performs transition planning with deployment team. Performs incremental host and network configuration beyond deployment scope. Implements Dell EMC System Management Tools.
Problem Management: Isolates and troubleshoots incidents. Performs service incident coordination. Opens service requests on behalf of the Customer. Participates in root cause analysis review.
Continual Service Improvement: Recommends procedure changes that result in operational optimisation. Shares best practices from other engagements. Provides performance tuning recommendations.
Change Evaluation and Recommendations: Assists with the solution documentation of policies and procedures in conjunction with the compliance manager(s) and with other key stakeholders
Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Backup Engineer or similar role, with expertise in DataDomain, Quantum, TSM, and NetBackup.
• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience in configuring and managing backup infrastructure components, including servers, storage devices, and software.
• Familiarity with backup software administration, such as Quantum, TSM, and NetBackup.
• Understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex backup-related issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients, team members, and vendors.
• Relevant certifications, such as Quantum Certified Engineer, IBM Certified Administrator - TSM, or Veritas Certified Specialist - NetBackup, are highly desirable.
