Automotive Parts Store Keeper
. This role is responsible for the efficient management, organization, and distribution of all automotive parts, tools, and consumables within the company's workshop store/warehouse. The goal is to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure immediate availability of items to minimize vehicle service delays.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection:
Receive, unpack, and verify incoming automotive parts and supplies against purchase orders (POs) and invoices. Inspect items for quantity accuracy, damage, and correct specification (OEM vs. Aftermarket).
Storage and Organization:
Sort, label, and store all parts and inventory in their designated locations within the store/warehouse using proper storage methods to prevent damage and facilitate quick retrieval. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store area.
Inventory Control:
Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using the company's inventory management system (e.g., ERP/DMS). Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical stock takes to reconcile discrepancies.
Issuing Parts:
Accurately pick and issue parts, tools, and materials to technicians and the workshop floor based on approved work orders and service requests. Record all outgoing items immediately.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Identify and report low-stock levels, expired items, slow-moving or obsolete inventory (OSMI) to the Parts Purchaser or Management to initiate reordering. Generate daily/weekly reports on stock movement and inventory status.
Warranty/Core Management:
Handle the documentation, labeling, and return of warranty parts, core components, and incorrect/damaged goods to suppliers in a timely manner.
Tool and Equipment Control:
Monitor and manage the inventory of shared workshop tools and equipment, ensuring their check-in and check-out process is strictly followed.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure the store operates in compliance with all company safety standards and procedures, particularly regarding the storage of fluids, batteries, and hazardous materials.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Store Keeper, Parts Man, or Inventory Controller, preferably within an automotive repair garage, dealership, or parts distribution environment.
Automotive Knowledge:
Solid understanding of automotive parts, terminology, and vehicle systems (e.g., engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical).
Systems Proficiency:
Proficiency in using computerized inventory management systems and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel).
