This hybrid role involves diagnosing, repairing, and programming automotive electrical systems, including advanced electronic control units (ECUs), sensors, and software-based modules. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with both traditional vehicle electrics and modern diagnostic software tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, sensors, and vehicle wiring.
Program and reprogram ECUs, keys, immobilizers, and other electronic modules.
Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and reset vehicle systems.
Install and configure aftermarket electronic components (alarms, GPS trackers, infotainment systems, etc.).
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, software instructions, and vehicle schematics.
Perform software updates and coding as per manufacturer specifications.
Work with automotive diagnostic platforms (e.g., Autel, Launch, OBD2 tools, OEM software).
Maintain service records and ensure all work complies with industry safety standards.
Collaborate with technicians and service advisors to ensure timely, high-quality service.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an auto electrician with programming/coding knowledge.
Familiarity with automotive diagnostic tools and software platforms.
Understanding of CAN-Bus, LIN-Bus, and other communication systems.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and software manuals.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Certification or training in automotive electrical systems and diagnostics (preferred).
Attention to detail and a proactive work approach.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills (Bonus):
Experience with ECU tuning or remapping.
Knowledge of hybrid or electric vehicle systems.
Familiarity with VAG-COM, BMW ISTA, Ford IDS, or similar platforms.
