Job Description

As an Auto Denter, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring vehicle bodies to their original condition after collisions or damages. This role involves using a variety of tools and techniques to reshape, repair, and replace damaged panels and components. Attention to detail, precision in workmanship, and the ability to assess and analyze structural damage are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

Damage Assessment:

Inspect vehicles to assess the extent of damage and identify areas requiring repair.
Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to evaluate structural integrity.

Panel Repair and Replacement:

Use hand and power tools to repair or replace damaged vehicle panels, including fenders, doors, and quarter panels.
Ensure proper alignment and fitment of replacement panels.

Frame Straightening:

Straighten and align vehicle frames using hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
Verify frame alignment to manufacturer specifications.

Welding and Fabrication:

Perform welding and metal fabrication to repair or replace damaged structural components.
Ensure that all welding work meets safety and quality standards.

Surface Preparation:

Prepare repaired areas for painting by sanding, filling, and priming surfaces.
Mask and protect areas that do not require painting.

Quality Control:

Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and customer expectations.
Make any necessary adjustments or corrections to achieve a seamless and finished appearance.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, including parts used and labor hours.
Communicate effectively with other team members, including painters and estimators.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations.

Customer Interaction:

Interact with customers to explain repair processes, provide estimates, and address any concerns.
Provide updates on the progress of repairs and answer customer inquiries.

Requirements:

Proven experience as an auto denter or collision repair technician. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for metalworking and panel repair. Knowledge of frame straightening techniques and equipment. Welding and fabrication skills. Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Ability to interpret and follow repair manuals and specifications. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in various positions. Certification or training in auto body repair is a plus.
